From July 21 to August 31, the 46th UNESCO World Heritage Committee is meeting in India’s capital, New Delhi. They will talk about adding 27 new places to the World Heritage List. They’ll also review how to protect 124 sites already on the List that are in danger.
Some places they’ll consider include Italy’s Appian Way, Saudi Arabia’s al-Fau archaeological area, early human settlements in South Africa, gold mines on Japan’s Sado Island, and Beijing’s central axis in China.
Azerbaijan, known for its history, has already had five of its sites added to UNESCO’s World Heritage List.
