Confessional statements from individuals convicted for their involvement in the violent attacks of May 9 have emerged, shedding light on the orchestrations behind the unrest.
Jan Muhammad Khan, one of the accused, admitted to wearing a military uniform shirt, recording a video, and subsequently burning the shirt, confirming his participation in the attacks.
Another accused, Shan, disclosed that he vandalized Jinnah House under the incitement of political leaders, following the arrest of PTI’s founding leader, Imran Khan.
Dawood Khan, another suspect, confessed to attacking Jinnah House at the instigation of Yasmin Rashid and Hassan Niazi, further implicating the political figures in the unrest.
Hasher, another convict, revealed his role in the attack on Jinnah House, claiming that the plan was formulated at Zaman Park, with Yasmin Rashid leading the operation.
In a similar vein, Aashiq Khan admitted to undergoing training at Zaman Park for carrying out the attacks on May 9.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed that military courts have sentenced 25 individuals involved in the May 9 riots. These suspects were accused of attacking state installations and engaging in widespread violence and vandalism during protests following the arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan in 2023.
