A video falsely portraying former Prime Minister Imran Khan in an intimate moment with two women has been debunked as AI-generated content. Circulating widely on social media, the video was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by the account @DrSyeda_Sadaf, accompanied by inflammatory captions criticizing Khan.
In the altered footage, Khan is depicted kissing two women at an event. The post amassed significant traction, with 80,000 views, over 1,000 likes, and 700 reposts before the deception was uncovered.
Investigation Reveals AI Manipulation
Geo News, through Google Reverse Image Search, identified one of the women in the video as Ghislaine Maxwell, the British socialite recently convicted in a high-profile case. The original image was sourced from Shutterstock, taken at London’s Savoy Hotel in 1990.
The second woman remains unidentified, adding to the intrigue of the manipulated clip.
Visual Inconsistencies Highlight AI Usage
Experts analyzing the video pointed out multiple inconsistencies, such as:
- An unnaturally bright background.
- Overly smooth facial features of the individuals involved.
- Awkward, unnatural movements during interactions.
These anomalies align with patterns seen in AI-manipulated media, as detailed by the MIT Media Lab.
Rising Concern Over AI-Generated Misinformation
The emergence of AI tools capable of creating convincing fake videos has raised alarms globally. Public figures, especially politicians and celebrities, are increasingly falling victim to such digital deception.
The incident highlights the urgent need for greater vigilance against misinformation and the ethical use of AI technology.
