Warner Bros. has teamed up with Futureverse, an AI and metaverse technology company, to transform the beloved sci-fi blockbuster “Ready Player One” into a fully immersive experience within the metaverse.
Readyverse Studios, the brainchild of this collaboration, aims to materialize the OASIS universe from Ernest Cline’s iconic novel and the subsequent 2018 film adaptation. The visionary project is set to pioneer a multi-world, multi-IP, interoperable open metaverse experience for the masses.
Co-founded by Shara Senderoff and Aaron McDonald, Futureverse envisions the Readyverse to uphold the principles of the open metaverse, focusing on provable digital ownership, community-owned infrastructure, decentralization, security, and interoperability.
The partnership extends to an exclusive deal with Warner Bros. Discovery, ensuring the Ready Player One franchise’s introduction to the metaverse across web3. Readyverse Studios will also retain exclusive web3 rights to all future intellectual property created by Ernest Cline.

The Readyverse is slated for launch in 2024, promising a fully immersive and futuristic open metaverse experience for enthusiasts eager to escape the real world. While details about the metaverse are still under wraps, the involvement of one of the world’s largest entertainment companies suggests a groundbreaking leap in virtual reality entertainment.
Directed by Steven Spielberg, the success of Ready Player One at the global box office, grossing $583 million, underscores the fans’ anticipation for the next level of the movie in the virtual world.
