FAISALABAD: In a shocking incident, an estranged wife allegedly poisoned her husband’s livestock, resulting in the death of three buffaloes and a cow in the village of Mamunkanjan, Faisalabad.
According to police reports, Zafar Iqbal, a local villager, claimed that his wife poisoned the animals following a dispute over money. The livestock, valued at Rs 1.2 million, succumbed to the poisoned feed.
Iqbal alleged that the disagreement arose when his wife expressed a desire to financially support her children from a previous marriage. Unable to resolve their differences, she reportedly resorted to this extreme act. Following the incident, the woman left her husband and her whereabouts remain unknown.
Police confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is underway. Efforts are being made to locate the woman involved in this tragic case.
This is not the first such incident in Faisalabad. In September, six buffaloes were killed and dozens of other cattle were seriously affected after consuming water contaminated by chemical effluents discharged from a local mill near Jaranwala Road.
Such events highlight the growing need for awareness and measures to protect the livelihoods of farmers and address domestic conflicts constructively.
