In a new effort to help women entrepreneurs, the Women Development Department of Balochistan will give interest-free loans of Rs500,000 to each woman who runs a business. This was announced by Secretary Sardar Ahmed Bugti at an event in Quetta’s Millennium Shopping Mall, organized by the Balochistan Rural Support Programme (BRSP) with UN Women.
Secretary Bugti also shared that women economic markets are almost ready in seven divisional headquarters of Balochistan.
During the event, Dr. Tahir Rashid and Naimatullah from BRSP explained the program’s goals. They said it aims to support women in business, provide them opportunities to grow, and help them overcome challenges.
Women from 11 districts of Balochistan participated in the event, setting up 15 stalls to display their products like embroidered clothes, jewelry, and other handmade items. Products made by women trained under BRSP and UN programs, such as frames, diaries, purses, and clothes, were also showcased.
This initiative is expected to empower women economically and promote their active participation in Balochistan’s economy.
