The highly anticipated World Culture Festival, organized by the Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi, is set to kick off today (Thursday) and will run until October 30. The event was officially announced by Arts Council President Ahmed Shah during a press conference held on Wednesday afternoon.
The festival will feature more than 450 artists from 40 countries, showcasing over 100 cultural performances. Countries participating in the event include Palestine, the UAE, India, Germany, South Korea, Bangladesh, Rwanda, and Switzerland, among others.
Attendees will be treated to a diverse array of activities, with 40 theatrical performances, 55 musical shows, 50 dance recitals, 20 workshops, 10 talks, and five fine art exhibitions.
“We want the world to know that we are the custodians of three great civilizations: Harappa, Taxila, and Mohenjo Daro,” Mr. Shah highlighted, emphasizing Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage.
Renowned writer Anwar Maqsood, speaking at the press conference, added: “While we are all aware of the situation in Islamabad, Punjab, and Balochistan, Sindh remains the only province where a festival of this scale is being organized.”
Provincial Culture Minister Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah also expressed the Sindh government’s full support for the event, noting that the festival will present a positive image of Pakistan to the world.
