A chilling case of domestic violence has surfaced in Karachi’s Korangi area, where a young nurse, Naz Fatima, was reportedly assaulted and had her head shaved by her family for expressing a desire to marry for love.
The shocking incident came to light after Fatima’s lawyer tipped off the police, leading to her rescue from unlawful confinement at her family home.
Police confirmed the arrest of five individuals, including Fatima’s grandmother, mother, father, uncle, and a neighbor. They face serious charges of unlawful confinement and assault.
In her statement, Fatima revealed that her family vehemently opposed her plans to marry a man of her choice, resorting to physical abuse and forcibly shaving her head in an attempt to punish and intimidate her.
The victim has expressed her intent to leave her family home and pursue her marriage. A formal case has been registered at the Qaidabad police station, ensuring that legal action will be taken against the accused.
This harrowing incident underscores the urgent need to address domestic violence and ensure justice for victims who dare to challenge societal norms.
