Islamabad, April 4 — The 46th death anniversary of former Prime Minister and founder of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, is being observed today across the country with reverence and respect.
Special prayers and Quran Khawani ceremonies are being held at his mausoleum in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, Larkana, where PPP leaders, workers, and supporters have gathered in large numbers to pay tribute to the charismatic leader who left a lasting impact on Pakistan’s political landscape.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and other senior party members are also expected to address a public gathering later today, highlighting Bhutto’s political legacy and the sacrifices he made for democracy in Pakistan.
Zulfikar Ali Bhutto served as both President and Prime Minister of Pakistan during the 1970s and is remembered for introducing the country’s first comprehensive constitution in 1973, initiating major industrial reforms, and pursuing an independent foreign policy. He was executed on April 4, 1979, in Rawalpindi, following a controversial trial under the military regime of General Zia-ul-Haq.
The anniversary is being marked by various events, including seminars, exhibitions, and media programs, reflecting on Bhutto’s contributions and ideology.
